Noni Madueke makes frank admission after shocking Chelsea miss v Man United

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has taken to social media after a disappointing display of finishing against Manchester United.

Enzo Maresca’s side took on the Red Devils on Friday evening (16 May), in what was a huge game for the West London side.

Marc Cucurella scored the only goal as Chelsea beat Man United 1-0, boosting their hopes of a top-five finish.

The Blues now sit fourth in the Premier League, and will ensure Champions League football for next season if they beat Nottingham Forest on the final day.

Madueke has a shocker

Despite Chelsea’s win, Madueke had an awful day at the office, spurning two major chances that he really should have put away.

The first opportunity came in the opening five minutes, Cole Palmer picking out the forward with a delightful ball in, but the 23-year-old ballooned his shot over the bar from just six yards out.

Madueke had a chance to make amends in the second half, and Palmer was again the creator, slipping the Englishman through on goal.

However, the youngster fluffed his lines, slicing his shot wide of Onana’s right-hand post.

After the game, Madueke took to Instagram (16 May) to comment on his missed opportunities, making light of the situation.

He posted a story with the caption: “Finishing practice for me btw lol. Stamford Bridge you guys were immense. REAL TALK. See you guys next season. Love, 11.”

Chelsea’s scoring struggles continue

Football Insider Verdict

There will be little surprise that Chelsea are looking for to sign a long-term striker option, after Madueke’s performance against United.

The winger has scored seven goals in 31 games, but three of those were in the same match against Wolves, and he now hasn’t scored in his last ten league appearances.

It’s not just Madueke, Maresca’s side have struggled to score goals all season, with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku among those who are consistently missing chances.

In fact, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Nkunku is close to a Chelsea exit, as the 27-year-old has flopped at Stamford Bridge, scoring only three times in the Premier League this season.

The attacking issues in West London must be corrected if Maresca hopes to improve on a top-five finish, and push for a title.
