‘Nooooo’, ‘Oh boy’, ‘Ruined’ – Fans react to reported Liverpool hammer blow ahead of Roma clash
By Richard Parks
Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to express their concern at a reported hammer blow that assistant manager Zeljko Buvac has quit ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Roma.
The Daily Record claim that Buvac, who moved to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp in October 2015, has left the club following a “dispute” with the German.
It is said that Liverpool’s players were informed on Sunday that the Bosnian-Serb was leaving Klopp’s backroom staff, to end a 17-year coaching relationship.
The Record report that Klopp and Buvac had stopped talking to one another and that the No2 had been excluded from tactical meetings and was no longer involved in team selection.
The decision to terminate a working relationship that began when the pair represented German club Mainz 05 in the 1990s comes during a season in which Klopp had come into conflict with Buvac.
Liverpool supporters on social media are split between those in despair at the exit of the long-standing right-hand man and those who are in denial about its veracity.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Buvac has worked as a managerial partnership with Klopp since the German was placed in charge of Mainz in February 2001.
They have had great success together and it would be regarded as a huge upset if the Bosnian-Serb has indeed left the club ahead of their biggest match of the season.
In other Liverpool news, Sky have claimed that the Merseyside giants have already made phone calls about signing BRILLIANT Tottenham player this summer.
