Norwich City close in on Johannes Hoff Thorup as work permit granted – sources
Johannes Hoff Thorup is now in pole position to be appointed at Norwich City after his work permit was approved on Thursday (23 May), sources have told Football Insider.
The Canaries applied to gain a permit for the 35-year-old FC Nordsjaelland boss, who did not qualify for an automatic endorsement.
It is believed that the application has been approved, clearing the path for Hoff Thorup to be appointed at Carrow Road if the board elect to proceed with him.
Talks are now at an advanced stage with the Danish boss, who could succeed David Wagner following his departure last week.
Norwich have also spoken to other candidates this week as they look to bounce back following the play-off semi-final defeat against Leeds – but it is believed Hoff Thorup is in pole position to land the role.

Wagner finished sixth with the Canaries in the regular season but was relieved of his duties following the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.
He had been in the job since January 2023, winning 31 of his 75 matches in the hot seat.
Hoff Thorup has been manager at Nordsjaelland for one-and-a-half years after stepping up from an assistant role.
The Dane has won 35 of his 66 matches in his first senior managerial role.

He led Nordsjaelland to second in the table last season and they now sit in fourth spot heading into the final game of the current campaign.
Norwich have confirmed their retained list following the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign, with Ben Gibson and Dimitris Giannoulis among the players departing.
