'Not good enough' - Rangers fans happy for defender to leave after reported English interest

By Will Butcher

Rangers fans would be happy to see defender Lee Hodson leave Ibrox after it was reported that English club Charlton Athletic were keen.

Alan Nixon claimed in his Sun transfer column in Sunday’s paper edition (page 63) that Hodson was interesting League One outfit Charlton ahead of the summer transfer window.

Northern Ireland international Hodson has struggled to make an impression north of the border after being signed by Mark Warburton from MK Dons in the summer.

The likes of James Tavernier and captain Lee Wallace are considered first choice full-backs, leaving Hodson to fill the void when either are unavailable.

The recent emergence of Maltese ace Myles Beerman is also likely to reduce Hodson’s playing time.

Rangers fans took to Twitter to debate the reported move, with many fans in agreement that the 25-year-old is just not good enough for the Gers.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Hodson has managed just 16 appearances in all competitions for the 54-time Scottish champions, but has a contract until the summer of 2019 and would require a fee should Charlton press ahead.
