Jack Harrison must be axed from the Leeds United team as he does not offer enough in the final third.
That is the verdict of ex-United forward Noel Whelan, who told Football Insider that it is time for the on-loan Manchester City star to make way for summer signing Helder Costa.
Whelan claimed Harrison’s lack of end product is a major failing, something that was apparent once again today as Leeds blew a 1-0 lead and a totally dominant performance to draw 1-1 at home to Derby County.
Harrison was named in the United starting XI for the eighth consecutive Championship match of the season but was withdrawn after 58 minutes and replaced by Costa.
“It’s time for Harrison to be dropped,” Whelan told Football Insider. “He’s been poor for quite a few games now, there’s no getting away from that.
“He gets in great positions and contributes to the build-up play but his final ball is not good enough, sometimes it’s horrific. He doesn’t score enough and doesn’t create enough.
“When you’ve got a player like Helder Costa you need to get him in the team. He has far more to offer and it’s a no brainer to get him in ahead of Harrison.”
Harrison has maintained the total faith of Marcelo Bielsa this season but his eight league starts have yielded just a single goal – in the opening-day win at Stoke City – and no assists.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that senior players are finding teammate an “absolute nightmare” at Thorp Arch.
