'Not the answer', 'I don't want him' - Rangers fans react to short-priced manager favourite
Rangers fans have taken to social media in the aftermath of today’s 2-1 victory over Aberdeen to discuss the prospect of Derek McInnes becoming the next permanent boss at Ibrox.
It’s fair to say that some aren’t keen on the Aberdeen boss joining Rangers, as is strongly rumoured, following Rangers two victories over the Dons this week.
Rangers defeated Aberdeen 3-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday, before a ten man Gers held on for the victory today, in what looks like Graeme Murty’s last game in charge as interim manager.
McInnes is now as short as 1/8 to be appointed the new Rangers manager.
Here are a few of the reactions on Twitter from Rangers fans on the alleged McInnes appointment:
mcinnes is not the answer

I'm hoping this has all been some machiavellian scheme by the board to unsettle Aberdeen prompting their garbage run of form. It's certainly worked! If you've whittled it down to just McInnes then the only right choice is no choice and keep Murty,

Mcinnes would make a good assistant for Murty

Murty is the benchmark. We should look to get someone in a similar mould to him but with more experience. I'd even take McLeish ahead of McInnes, and I wasn't too keen on him when it was first mentioned. We can't combat Rodgers with someone who hasn't offered anything v Celtic

Every time I hear a McInnes interview the more I don't want him in charge of our team

Im just going to come out and say it
I really dont want McInnes as manager of my club!

Think today proves Murty is as good as McInnes if not better. If we can't aim higher than McInnes then surely it's better for us to keep Murty on than him.

Don't get the excitement over McInnes! I know he's our number 1 target and is likely to be at Ibrox next week but my worry with him has always been his inability to win big matches and that's been proven twice this week!????????????????⚪️ #RangersFC

If McInnes does take over at Rangers then his first game in charge will be against Ross County at Ibrox next Saturday.

Rangers will go into the game in second place in the Scottish Premiership, having overtaken Aberdeen on goal difference following their two victories over the Dons this week.
Graeme Murty has done a decent job as interim manager, leading Rangers to three wins and two defeats on his watch.
Derek McInnes has been considered the favourite for the Rangers job since the sacking of Pedro Caixinha two months ago, but until now there hasn’t been any contact between Rangers and Aberdeen.
