Nuno Tavares may have played last game for Arsenal after confirmed news – Campbell
Kevin Campbell suspects Nuno Tavares may have played his last game in an Arsenal shirt.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gunners and Everton striker backed the club’s decision to loan out the 22-year-old for the 2022-23 campaign.
On Saturday (30 July), Arsenal confirmed Tavares had joined Marseille on a season-long loan deal.
It is yet unclear as to whether the Ligue 1 side have the option to buy the left-back permanently included in the agreement.
The ex-Benfica defender was deemed surplus to requirements by manager Mikel Arteta following the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City last month.
Tavares has three years remaining on his contract at the Emirates.
When asked by Football Insider if the full-back had likely played his last game for the London club, Campbell said: “Possibly.
“The sticking point will be whether there was a clause included in the deal. I think the clever thing to do would be to include a buy option and a buyback clause in the deal.
“We all know what can happen, players can go out on loan and suddenly click into place. They mature. Young players need to mature.

“I am not too sure what Arsenal’s long-term plan is on this one.
“What I do know is that Nuno Tavares needs to get out there and play games. He is not going to get that at Arsenal this season.”
In other news, an Arsenal expert has claimed this is when Bukayo Saka could leave for a Champions League club.
