Odsonne Edouard: Crystal Palace’s transfer plan revealed – sources
Crystal Palace are keen to keep Odsonne Edouard at the club past the 31st August deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old could remain at Selhurst Park well into the 2024-25 campaign despite having less than 12 months to run on his contract.
Jean-Philippe Mateta will start the new season as the undisputed first-choice striker at Palace following his stellar goalscoring form last term.
But sources say the Eagles are keen to keep Edouard on as they are not blessed with attacking options.
Michael Olise has already left for Bayern Munich, while Eberechi Eze has also been widely linked with a move away from Selhurst Park.
Edouard joined Palace from Celtic in 2021 and is yet to extend his contract with the Croydon outfit.
Crystal Palace keen to keep Edouard despite contract uncertainty
He hit eight goals in 33 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 season, starting in 19 of those outings.
By contrast, Mateta scored 19 goals and registered five assists in 39 games last term.
That included a run of nine strikes in the final six games of the season which consigned Edouard to a bench role.

Crystal Palace finished 10th in the Premier League last term – their joint-best top-flight finish.
The Eagles start the new campaign away at Brentford on 18 August.
