Offer accepted, Rangers to reportedly announce another new arrival
Rangers are on the verge of confirming the appointment Jimmy Nicholl as their new assistant manager, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim that Nicholl, 61, has quit his role as number two at Falkirk in the aftermath of Tuesday night’s Championship defeat to Dunfermline to head to Ibrox.
It is said that ex-Raith Rovers manager was approached by Rangers at the weekend and has accepted the club’s offer to become Graeme Murty’s right-hand man.
Nicholl, 61, had two spells at Ibrox as a player and will be a key part of Murty’s backroom staff.
He will link up with the rest of the Rangers party when they head to America for the Florida Cup this weekend but will have to wait until after the winter break to be in the dug-out for a competitive game, which is set to be their Scottish Cup clash against Fraserburgh.
Northern Irishman Nicholl is also the current assistant manager to Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill and will continue working with them while in his role at Ibrox.
Nicholl is set to be the second new Rangers arrival of the January window after the club announced on their official website earlier on Wednesday the loan signing of QPR midfielder Sean Goss.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have held talks with the agent of this South American defender.
