‘Offered nothing’ – Chelsea fans tear into player who made zero dribbles vs Benfica
One Chelsea player did not impress on his opportunity to stake a claim to be greater involved in Enzo Maresca’s plans.
An own goal by Richard Rios gave the Blues a 1-0 victory over Benfica to get their first win in the Champions League this season.
Chelsea lost 3-1 to Bayern Munich on matchday one as Maresca’s side returned to the competition for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
Cole Palmer was out injured for the Blues with Maresca making five changes from Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton in the Premier League.

Tyrique George slammed for ‘stinking’ performance
Maresca decided to start 19-year-old Tyrique George against Benfica over Joao Pedro.
However the young striker was the subject of criticism from fans on social media with one posting: “Playing with 10 men is better than playing with Tyrique George.”
“What exactly can Tyrique George do on the pitch?,” one fan asked.
One Chelsea supporter posted: “What does Tyrique George add to this Chelsea team? I want to know.”
Whilst another posted: “Tyrique George looks like he doesn’t want to be at Chelsea.”
Another fan said: “Tyrique George is just useless , I have no other word for him USELESS.”
Whilst another fan questioned Maresca over his decision to start George over Marc Guiu.
“Tyrique George is such a pointless player. Like i literally can’t tell you what he adds to our team. I wonder why Maresca likes him so much. GUIU should be getting more playing time,” a fan posted.
Damning stats emerge on George performance vs Benfica
George had little impact on the match and was substituted in the second half for Pedro, despite Chelsea enjoying 66% possession.
The striker was not presented with many chances, and did not get himself into the game with a minimal amount of touches.

George’s performance will have reaffirmed to Maresca, if he had any doubts, that Pedro is still his number one striker.
The 19-year-old let an opportunity to impress Maresca and the supporters go by.
