Manchester United are hopeful that Phil Jones will be fit enough to take part in their Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday but Marcus Rojo is ruled out.
The Reds confirmed on their official website that there is hope that the England defender, who was forced off in the Three Lions’ draw against Germany last Friday, will be fit enough to turn out against the Magpies, in what would be a boost for Jose Mourinho.
However it was also revealed that Marcus Rojo is not yet fit enough to appear for the senior side, and that he will take part in the reserve match on Wednesday as he looks towards a return in December
The Red Devils come into the clash after having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea prior to the international break, which ended up leaving them eight points behind league leaders and local rivals Manchester City in second.
Newcastle meanwhile also come into the match off of the back of two successive 1-0 losses, both away at Burnley and in their last match against Bournemouth at St James’ Park.
That has left Rafael Benitez and his men sitting in 11th place following their return to the top flight, the lowest of all the newly promoted sides but above the likes of established Premier League sides Everton, West Ham and Southampton.
