‘Oh my god’ – Arsenal fans love what Viktor Gyokeres did in training footage
Arsenal fans have been given a glimpse into what Viktor Gyokeres can provide for them, and it’s safe to say that they’re getting excited.
The Gunners have finished second in the Premier League in each of the last three seasons, and on every occasion, they’ve been outscored by the eventual champions.
Supporters have been crying out for a top-class No.9 for years, and after a rollercoaster ride of negotiations, the club finally delivered, bringing Gyokeres to the Emirates following a 102-game spell at Sporting CP that yielded 97 goals and two league titles.
Gyokeres is already training with his new teammates as they prepare for Thursday’s friendly against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Viktor Gyokeres wows in Arsenal training
A video has emerged of Gyokeres practising his finishing during Arsenal’s pre-Spurs training session ahead of their clash in Hong Kong.
Gyokeres pulls off a stunning finish into the far corner from distance, impressing a bumper crowd that had been allowed to watch Mikel Arteta‘s men in action and showcasing the ruthless goalscoring prowess that made him so in-demand in the first place.
It wasn’t just those inside Kai Tak Sports Park who were impressed, though, with fans flooding Gunnerblog’s comments with reaction and optimism about what Gyokeres can bring to the team.
Arteta addresses Gyokeres status ahead of Arsenal friendly
Even though it’s a friendly, any Arsenal vs Tottenham clash has the ability to stir up supporters, who will want to lay down an early marker against their rivals ahead of the new season.
With that in mind, most would have been eager to see Gyokeres make his Arsenal debut in Thursday’s high-profile clash.

However, Arteta has poured cold water on that idea, stating that while it’s not impossible, it would be very ambitious given how little Gyokeres has trained since finally becoming an Arsenal player.
“He has only done today’s session and yesterday very little. We’re going to assess tonight how he is,” Arteta told reporters (Football.London, 30 July), adding: “If the medial staff are please with his conditions it is possible.”
Even if Gyokeres sits out Thursday’s game, he’s already done more than enough in training to show how he can level up this Arsenal side, whose sole remit this season will be to win the Premier League title.
