Oliver Glasner: Man United see Crystal Palace boss as ‘interesting’ choice
Man United have set their sights on Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner if they decide to sack Ruben Amorim amid growing pressure on his position.
Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 15 September that Man United chiefs are losing patience with Amorim and his methods.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Glasner has now emerged as an interesting option for the Red Devils.
Sources say the manager’s contract situation at Crystal Palace has added to the interest in his availability with growing uncertainty about his future in South London.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Glasner is likely to leave Crystal Palace, and United are among the clubs who could swoop to poach him.

Man United set sights on Oliver Glasner to replace Ruben Amorim
Football Insider revealed on 6 September that Crystal Palace fear Glasner could join a Premier League rival as a number of clubs are keeping tabs on his situation.
After leading the Eagles to their first-ever trophy by winning the FA Cup last season, followed by their Community Shield success, he is regarded as one of the top managers in the division.
As a result, Man United are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation with a growing desire for him to be the long-term successor to Amorim.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think obviously if Man United do decide to part ways with Ruben Amorim, they’re going to look for the best man for the job.
“Whether it’s somebody who’s already in the Premier League or somebody managing elsewhere, they will look at the market and see who is available.
“The Manchester United job will still be attractive, whatever their current situation, because they’re still a huge club with a huge fan base.
“And obviously there has been financial backing in the transfer market as well for managers, which is always a tempting prospect for a manager.

“If they did decide to go for somebody in the Premier League, there are a few options for them who would be able to come in and hit the ground running.
“Glasner’s an interesting one as he is into the final year of his contract at Crystal Palace and still seems there’s no progress on talks there and what his situation is going to become next summer.
“But look for United right now, they’re still remaining fully behind Ruben Amorim and they hope that he can turn things around.”
The likes of Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva have also been linked with the position at Old Trafford should Amorim lose his job, with Premier League bosses high on the list.
Crystal Palace working to agree new Glasner contract
Football Insider revealed on 8 September that Crystal Palace want Glasner to sign a new contract and are doing everything to convince him to sign a new deal.
With less than one year remaining on his current contract at Selhurst Park, there is a growing possibility that the Austrian could walk away the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the fall-out from Marc Guehi‘s failed deadline day move to Liverpool has left concerns behind the scenes about the manager’s long-term future.

Football Insider revealed on 17 August that Glasner has grown frustrated at Crystal Palace as a result of a lack of direction and ambition in the transfer market.
While the Palace hierarchy still hope they can convince the boss to commit his long-term future to their project, doubts surrounding his position are growing.
