Omari Hutchinson sends message to Liam Delap after Chelsea shock
Ipswich playmaker Omari Hutchinson has taken to social media to send a message to Liam Delap after their shock 2-0 win over Chelsea on Monday (December 30).
Both Delap, 21, and Hutchinson, 21, scored against Enzo Maresca’s side as Ipswich secured a much-needed three points from their first home win of the season.
Delap opened the scoring from the spot after securing a controversial penalty having gone down from minimal contact from Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Chelsea piled on the pressure in pursuit of an equaliser and thought they made the breakthrough, but Joao Felix’s goal was ruled out for offside after VAR intervention.
Maresca’s side were unable to make their dominance pay, and Hutchinson eased the home fans’ anxiety with a goal against his former club just after half-time.

Maresca, who managed Delap while with the Man City youth set-up, was full of praise for the striker ahead of the game.
Speaking in his press conference, the Chelsea boss said: “Liam is a fantastic player, and also for his age, I think we spent one year together and he scored [about] 22 to 24 goals. He is a very good striker.”
According to TalkSPORT, the West Londoners are keen on bringing the striker to the club in January but could face competition from Man City due to their buy-back clause.
Delap is key to Ipswich’s hopes of staying in the Premier League, starting 17 of his 19 games across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing two assists in 1381 minutes of action.
Hutchinson took to Instagram to celebrate their memorable win over Chelsea by sharing an image of himself and Delap with a blue love heart emoji.

Winless in their last three Premier League games and in danger of falling out of the top four, Chelsea will be hoping to start 2025 with a bang as they travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday (December 4).
Ipswich, on the other hand, have the opportunity to crawl out of the relegation zone for the first time this season as they head to Fulham on Sunday (December 5).
