
Orel Mangala to Everton: O’Rourke shares ‘interesting’ update today
Everton are planning to take advantage of Lyon’s financial problems to sign Orel Mangala permanently, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Premier League said could land Mangala on “a bit of a discount.”
The French outfit have been provisionally relegated to Ligue 2 due having a debt of over £400million which could lead to the offloading players to try salvage the situation.
Mangala’s current deal at Everton is a straight loan deal without an obligation to buy him, which is something that suits the club.
The Merseyside giants can look to negotiate a cheaper deal for the 26-year-old knowing that Lyon are in a desperate situation.
The Ligue 1 side spent £15million on Mangala 18 months ago, and if Everton do decide to sign him on a permanent deal they will be aiming to get him a lot cheaper than that.
Orel Mangala has settled into Everton this season
The defensive midfielder has settled into life at Goodison Park nicely, having become a key member of Sean Dyche’s squad.
He has played eight times in the Premier League so far, starting five of those games as Dyche has placed his trust into the Belgium international.
The midfielder has proven himself in the Premier League due to his previous spell at Nottingham Forest, having made 58 appearances in the division.

The new owner wants to “put his hand in his pocket” to bolster the squad in order to avoid relegation this season.
