O’Rourke: Leeds ready to sign striker and midfielder
Leeds United have identified a need for reinforcements at centre-back, striker and in midfield as the start of the 2023-24 campaign approaches, sources have told Football Insider.
The Whites are turning their attention to incomings having lost eight stars since their relegation from the Premier League last term.
Ethan Ampadu has already arrived on a permanent deal from Chelsea, providing an experienced and versatile option for manager Daniel Farke.
Meanwhile, Leeds are also set to announce the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a permanent basis after he underwent a medical.
With Darlow coming in, the Whites are open to parting with Illan Meslier to fund further signings in the final month of the summer window.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (28 July) that Leeds will accept offers of between £20-25million for the Frenchman.
Centre-back has been identified as a critical area for improvement following the exodus of stars in the wake of relegation.
Robin Koch and Diego Llorente have both gone out on loan for the 2023-24 campaign – while Max Wober is also close to sealing a temporary move to Borussia Monchengladbach.
Farke’s side are also ready to move for reinforcements in central midfield with Tyler Adams’ future still up in the air.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week (25 July) that Adams is keen to quit Leeds United this summer to play at a higher level.
The Whites also released Adam Forshaw at the end of his contract last month.

A striker is also on the transfer agenda with Rodrigo Moreno, last season’s top scorer, sealing a move to Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan early in the window.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (28 July) that all three relegated sides are set to battle for the signing of Swansea City star Joel Piroe.
