O’Rourke shares major update on Newcastle signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Newcastle United are unlikely to seal a summer move for Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, sources have told Football Insider.

Recent reports have suggested the Magpies are set to launch a mega-money bid for the 22-year-old, who is one of Europe’s hottest properties following his displays in the 2022-23 campaign.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Newcastle are unlikely to find themselves in the right financial position to meet Napoli’s demands for Kvaratskhelia.

The winger is on the radar at St James’ Park and representatives watched him in action on several occasions last term – but it is believed the Italian side will not consider selling one of their star men this summer.

Circumstances could change if Newcastle are able to offload their unwanted stars for top dollar in this transfer window.

Kvaratskheila helped Napoli lift the Serie A title in the 2022-23 campaign for the first time since 1990.

He notched 14 goals and 17 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions in his first season in Italian football.

His contract at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona runs until June 2027.

The 22-cap Georgia international primarily plays on the left wing but can also star on the right flank and lead the line.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are keen on a deal for Leicester winger Harvey Barnes.
