Ossie Ardiles hailed Totteham’s “outstanding performance” on Twitter after his former club secured a 2-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

The north London club secured victory with two first half goals after Aleksandar Kolarov put the ball into his own net before Dele Alli coolly slotted past Claudio Bravo.

Former Spurs star Ardiles hailed Mauricio Pochettino and his team on his personal Twitter account stating that it was a “great result”.

Ardiles played for Tottenham for 10 years between 1978 and 1988.

The win for Spurs has seen them move within a point of Manchester City, who are currently at the top of the Premier League table.

They face a test against Tony Pulis’ West Brom side after the international break, who managed to hold Tottenham to two 1-1 draws in the previous campaign.

However, with Pochettino’s eyes now fixed on the obtainable top position they will be pushing themselves further to claim victory at the Hawthorns.

The north London club have won their last five fixtures in all competitions and remain unbeaten in Premier League.

Meanwhile, West Brom have just one win from seven encounters in all competitions, but former Spurs attacker Nacer Chadli has started life at the Midlands club in impressive form.

In other Tottenham news, Dele Alli apologised to the injured Harry Kane for not celebrating for him following his goal in the 2-0 triumph over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
