Man United fans were blown away by Kobbie Mainoo’s “exquisite” performance in their 2-0 win against Wigan Athletic on Monday night (8 January).
Erik ten Hag got his side back to winning ways and secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over the 2013 champions at the DW Stadium.
Diogo Dalot’s first-half effort and a controversial Bruno Fernandes penalty confirmed victory over the League One Tics, but Mainoo caught the eye of a huge portion of the fanbase.
The 18-year-old was handed his ninth start of the season in all competitions following a series of impressive performances for the Red Devils during their tumultuous campaign.
The defensive midfielder partnered Scott McTominay in the midfield and once again dazzled United fans with his excellent composure on the ball, exceptional passing ability and relentless tackling.
Mainoo was one of United’s standout players across the 90 minutes having managed 90 per cent pass accuracy, 10 successful ground duels, two successful dribbles and eight completed tackles.
Supporters have taken to social media in response to the “unreal” footage of the teenager that emerged from the clash, and many are convinced that he has a monumental future at Old Trafford.
