‘Our club is a circus’ – West Ham fans explode as ‘ridiculous’ Callum Wilson update emerges

West Ham fans are fuming after a new report revealed that Callum Wilson is in talks to leave the club just five months on from his arrival.

Wilson left Newcastle at the end of his contract last summer after an injury-hit 2024-25 campaign saw him make just two Premier League starts under Eddie Howe.

His impressive scoring record on Tyneside made him an attractive free agent option for many top-flight clubs, and West Ham won the race for his services in August as he penned a one-year deal at the London Stadium.

Wilson’s fitness has been questioned this season amid the Hammers’ struggles, but he has still been able to notch four goals and an assist in 17 league appearances so far.

Nuno Espirito Santo has added to his attacking options at the start of the January window, and those new signings could now pave the way for Wilson to leave, much to the dismay of many West Ham fans.

Wilson wants to leave West Ham this month after Pablo and Taty Castellanos arrivals

Football Insider revealed last month that West Ham were working on signing a striker in January amid concerns around Wilson’s form and fitness.

They have struck two deals for new forwards in the first few days of the window, with Gil Vicente’s Pablo joining for a reported £21.8million fee, while Castellanos has arrived from Lazio for around £25.2m.

West Ham’s chiefs are certainly not resting on their laurels when it comes to trying to avoid relegation to the Championship, but such arrivals could spell the end of Wilson’s short spell in East London.

A new report from The Athletic states that Wilson is in talks to leave West Ham this month, and he could be set to depart prior to the end of his one-year deal in the summer.

He could be the third forward to leave the London Stadium in January, after Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme, and it is fair to say that many West Ham supporters are not happy with their club after this new reveal.

West Ham fans fume at Wilson bombshell – ‘Makes absolutely no sense’

Wilson has not been a regular scorer for West Ham, but fans have grown to appreciate the ability and experience that has seen him bag 92 goals in 256 Premier League appearances so far.

The 33-year-old is certainly a more proven top-flight option than either Pablo or Castellanos, and news of his potential exit has seen many supporters question both Nuno and their recent transfer dealings.

Taking to X, one fan said: “Our club is a circus. Risking everything on two untried strikers and getting rid of a proven Premier League goal scorer.”

Another wrote: “I was convinced Nuno hated Wilson before this, and I’m certain of it now. Makes absolutely no sense to get rid of a guy who has scored goals this season. We desperately need attacking options, and if one of the new strikers gets injured we are back to square one. Stupid.”

While one fan added: “Pretty obvious that Nuno hates him and plays him as little as physically possible. (It was) clear that this would happen as we’ve signed not one but two new strikers. Still a very odd call, he hardly costs us anything to keep around and not play, and him joining a relegation rival could end us.
