Out of form Celtic player can force his way back into contention by tearing St Johnstone apart
Celtic seem likely make a host of changes for their league match against St Johnstone on Sunday, as they look ahead to the upcoming Europa League second leg against Zenit.
One player who seems certain to start against the Saints is Scotland’s reigning player of the year Scott Sinclair, who was undoubtedly one of the stars of the Hoops team last season, but this season he has flattered to deceive.
Even though he is currently the Bhoys’ top scorer with 17 goals, his performances haven’t been on a par with those he turned in on a regular basis last season.
Brendan Rodgers has obviously noticed this, as he dropped Sinclair against Zenit and saw the Hoops put on one of their best displays of the season so far.
So how can Sinclair win his place back in the side? He can start by putting St Johnstone to the sword on Sunday.
If the 28-year-old is able to dominate the game, and for example, scores a hat-trick – something he is more than capable of doing – then Rodgers will be given food for thought ahead of picking his team for the second leg against Zenit.
However, if Sinclair puts on another one of the listless performances that he has been doing in recent weeks, he will be further away from the first team than ever before. It’s up to him to show what he can do.
