Attacking duo axed in Monk 4-2-3-1: Leeds best possible XI to face Cardiff
COMMENT by Amir Mir
Leeds should make two changes to their starting XI when they welcome Cardiff to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon for a Championship clash.
Out-of-sorts Souleymane Doukara and his fellow attacking midfielder Stuart Dallas should be axed by manager Garry Monk following the 2-1 loss at Huddersfield last Sunday.
As a result, deadline-day arrivals Modou Barrow and Alfonso Pedraza should be given their first start by Monk, who should field his usual 4-2-3-1 formation.
Striker Chris Wood must be the focal point of the attack as the New Zealander has been a key figure in the club’s success this term.
Both Barrow and Pedraza added extra bite to the Whites attack when they came on during the defeat against their Yorkshire rivals last time out.

Therefore, Monk should give them an opportunity to shine in front of their own fans as their pace, skill and power will serve well for the in-form Wood.
Playmaker Pablo Hernandez is a class above his fellow Championship counterparts and the Spaniard should continue in his role behind the striker.
Furthermore, the more defensive-minded Liam Bridcutt must partner the energetic and forward thinking Ronaldo Vieira in the middle of the park.
The Whites have kept six consecutive clean sheets on home soil and Monk needs to continue with the same back four that started the game against the Terriers.
The ever-reliable duo of Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley bring steel and calmness from the heart of the club’s defence, aided by right-back Luke Ayling and left-back Gaetano Berardi.
To top if off, the experienced campaigner Rob Green needs to continue his role between the sticks as Monk’s side look to build on their promotion charge.
