Brendan Rodgers has claimed that two of Bayern Munich’s star men were full of praise for Celtic on Wednesday night.
Bayern edged out Celtic 2-1 in a thrilling game at Celtic Park. and according to the Celtic boss both Arjen Robben and Thiago were paid tribute to the Hoops’ performance after the game.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Rodgers said “What the players earned against Bayern was respect.
“That was what Arjen Robben and young Thiago were saying afterwards. They were outstanding, that’s what they were saying.
“So for our players to play with that quality makes me proud. It’s a nice pat on the back for them.”
Robben has also claimed that Celtic can reach May’s Europa League final in Lyon.
Celtic dominated large parts of the game but defensive errors handed Bayern the lead, and shortly after Celtic equalised Bayern retook the lead and were able to use their experience to see the game out.
Despite the defeat, Celtic are still in pole position to secure Europa League football after Christmas, as the Bhoys currently hold a three point lead over last placed Anderlecht in Champions League Group B.
Celtic return to domestic duty on Saturday with a trip to McDiarmid Park to take on St Johnstone.
In other Celtic news, Brendan Rodgers has claimed that Kieran Tierney may stay at Celtic for years to come.
