Oxford United and Lincoln City race to sign Dunfermline ace Josh Edwards – sources
Oxford and Lincoln are eyeing summer moves for Dunfermline defender Josh Edwards, sources have told Football Insider.
Edwards, 23, has excelled in the Scottish Championship this season and his displays have alerted the League One duo.
Barnsley had a bid for the attacking left-back rejected in the January transfer window as Dunfermline were reluctant to let him leave.
Dunfermline are bracing themselves for further interest in Edwards this summer with the club having a year’s option in his contract until 2025.
Oxford and Lincoln want to sign Dunfermline star this summer
Edwards’ suitors feel a fee in the region of £100,000 will be enough to prise the former Kilmarnock youngster to England this summer.
The 23-year-old has made 38 appearances in all competitions for Dunfermline this season, featuring in the league, League Cup, Scottish Cup and Challenge Cup.
His versatility has been on full display, with Edwards appearing at left-back, left midfield and in central defence throughout the season.
The left-back represented Kilmarnock at youth level before joining up with Airdrieonians when he was 17 years old.
A total of 39 Airdrie appearances followed, with Edwards then making the switch to Dunfermline in July 2019, where he now boasts 178 appearances.
Dundee United currently lead the way in the Scottish Championship, with Edwards and Dunfermline well off the pace in fifth place.

Both Oxford and Lincoln meanwhile are currently pushing for League One promotion, with the former sitting in sixth place, two points ahead of the latter in seventh.
