‘Pathetic’, ‘Biggest melt’ – Man United destroy Gabriel Magalhaes as new footage emerges vs Arsenal
Man United supporters are still basking in the glory of their incredible 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes was key for Michael Carrick once again, but it was the goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu, and Matheus Cunha which stole the show on 25 January.
Despite Mikel Merino grabbing a second after Lisandro Martinez‘s own goal, the Red Devils kept fighting right until the end, with Cunha netting the winner in the 87th minute.
Craig Pawson was the VAR official for the Manchester derby, but he was the man in the middle in North London, making some key decisions in what could be a season-defining game for the Gunners.
With only two yellow cards dished out, many were surprised not to see emotions bubble over in the five-goal thriller, but new footage reveals what the Sky Sports cameras might have missed in the moment.
Gabriel Magalhaes and Harry Maguire get into post-match scuffle
Mikel Arteta was without Riccardo Calafiori for the clash, but with Gabriel Magalhaes returning to the pitch in recent weeks, the back line was hardly lacking in North London.
And it was the Brazilian who got into a post-match coming-together with United’s Harry Maguire, who had made a fool out of him during the 90 minutes, leading to him being called out as “pathetic”.
Senne Lammens then stepped in to break up the clash, with a second supporter blasting him for being “disrespectful,” and another calling him out as a “sore loser”.
- @N2TPlays: “Lol Just like the manager. Disrespectful.”
- @OnaSoumyn: “Bunch of whiners, just like their manager.”
- @ManUtdHeritage: “Fits that club perfectly, fake hard man who can’t take it.”
Mikel Arteta and Michael Carrick suffer different fates
Carrick is now the favourite to remain Man United boss for the 2026-27 campaign, boasting back-to-back wins over Man City and Arsenal in his first two games in charge.
While multiple big names have been linked with the job, the midfield legend remains strongly in the running, already winning fans over with his treatment of Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo.
Arteta, on the other hand, is under huge amounts of pressure to bring silverware back to North London, and the chances of that happening in the Premier League have taken a huge hit.
Pep Guardiola and Unai Emery are both just four points behind the Spaniard, with 15 games of the season remaining, while all three are also competing for the Champions League title.
It is impossible to predict what will happen, but what is obvious is just how desperate the Arsenal players are to accomplish this season.
