Patrick Bamford enrages rival fans as ‘shocking’ footage emerges from Leeds win
Patrick Bamford and officials were hammered by rival fans after the striker’s “shocking” goal for Leeds United was allowed
Rival fans were enraged that Patrick Bamford’s “disgraceful” goal for Leeds United stood in their win against Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon (10 February).
The Whites secured their sixth consecutive win in the Championship with a 3-0 triumph at Elland Road thanks to Bamford’s opener and a second-half brace from Crysencio Summerville.
However, controversy was sparked just 10 minutes into their clash against the Millers when Bamford seemingly handled the ball into the net to give Leeds the lead.
Junior Firpo attempted to make a pass into Georginio Rutter in the box, but a huge deflection off Rotherham’s Sean Morrison saw the ball fall to Bamford.
The Englishman’s last touch seemed to come off his arm, but despite appeals from the away fans and players, the goal was awarded to Bamford.
To add insult to injury, the 30-year-old celebrated by throwing his arm up towards the home support, implying he knew that his goal was not legal.
Fans took to social media to berate Bamford for his antics after the goal and to hammer the referees for the “shocking” standard of officiating in the game.
