Patterson will be questioning his Everton future - ex-Rangers star
Nathan Patterson has the “ability and quality” to succeed at Everton despite Rafa Benitez’s departure, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 20-year-old will be “questioning exactly what is going on” after events this week.
The Toffees then confirmed on Tuesday (18 January) that club legend Duncan Ferguson will once again take caretaker charge of the side for the “upcoming games”.
Hutton insisted that Patterson will have a future at Goodison Park “no matter who comes in”.
“It’s a difficult one,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“He must be questioning exactly what is going on at Everton, but there’s no doubting his ability and quality.”
“No matter who comes in, they’ll know that they’ve got a really good signing and a real prospect for the future in Patterson. They can mould and shape him into whatever type of player they need.
“He just needs to stay focused and carry his good Rangers form over to Goodison Park.”
According to the Telegraph (20 January), Fabio Cannavaro has joined Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard on the shortlist of options being considered for the managerial vacancy at Goodison Park.
Everton also completed the signings of Vitaliy Mykolenko and Anwar El Ghazi before the sacking of Benitez.
Scotland international Patterson could make his Toffees debut against Aston Villa tomorrow.
The right-back has played 11 club games this season, assisting once.
