Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has questioned Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and criticised him for his recent mistakes.
The 31-year-old has conceded 20 goals in 19 Premier League matches for Tottenham this season – he only conceded 24 in his 34 league appearances last campaign.
He has also made a number of uncharacteristic errors which have led to goals, including one for Dusan Tadic in the 5-2 win over Southampton at Wembley on Boxing Day.
Merson admitted that Lloris is a “top goalkeeper” but questioned him for his recent displays.
“The only worry at the moment for me is Hugo Lloris, who is making some mistakes,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“It’s not like him and I think he is a good goalkeeper but he has made some sloppy mistakes. I don’t know if he is getting bored because he is a top goalkeeper.”
Merson added that Tottenham will not concede many goals once key Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld return to the starting line-up.
The Sky Sports pundit was making his prediction for the Premier League clash between Spurs and their London rivals West Ham United at Wembley on Thursday.
The Arsenal legend is predicting a convincing 3-1 victory for Spurs, at the expense of David Moyes’ Hammers. However, before the clash on Thursday both teams are in action tonight.
Tottenham will be looking to put pressure on their top-four rivals when they face the Premier League’s bottom-club Swansea at the Liberty Stadium. Meanwhile, 18th-placed West Ham travel to 19th-placed West Bromwich Albion in a crucial match.
