Paul Merson has backed Tottenham to beat Bournemouth 3-0 in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon at White Hart Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side go into this match, seven points behind league leaders Chelsea, who will travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Sunday.
This will give Spurs an opportunity to close the gap on their rivals to four points and put the pressure on their opponents.
Tottenham ran out comfortable winners last time out when they saw off the threat of Watford by beating the Hornets 4-0.
Ahead of the weekend match, former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes one more win will help Eddie Howe’s side secure safety in the top flight.
“Spurs are flying at the moment and I can’t see anything other than a home win,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Bournemouth are seven points above the relegation zone and that’s a lot at this stage of the season – I don’t see them being in trouble.
“They have another win in them and that will be enough to secure safety.
“It’s not coming here, though, because Tottenham are relentless and I think they will put the pressure on Chelsea for 24 hours.”
Harry Kane, who had been on the sidelines with an ankle injury, came off the substitutes bench against Watford last Saturday.
It is highly likely that the club’s top scorer with 19 goals is expected to replace the out-of-sorts Vincent Janssen in the starting XI.
Kane will be hoping to build his partnership with attacking midfielder Dele Alli, who has scored 16 goals during this campaign.
Alli found the back of the net in his last league match as his brilliant curling effort opened the scoring.
Now, he will be looking to hit 20 goals for the campaign and possibly overtake his teammate Kane in the scoring charts.
In other Tottenham news, this 26-year-old could be fit for the Chelsea game.
