Paul Merson has provided a damning verdict when comparing Tottenham with their fierce rivals Arsenal.

Sky Sports pundit Merson believes Spurs are “mile ahead” of their north London counterparts after yet another poor campaign for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Merson also claimed that Alexis Sanchez is the only player from the Emirates that would get into the Tottenham team.

Arsenal have finished above Spurs in the league since 1996, but that record is on course to be stopped during this campaign.

Sky Sports pundit Merson provided this brutal assessment of his former side when comparing them with Tottenham.

“This is going to be the first time in 20-odd years that Tottenham will finish ahead of Arsenal and they are miles ahead of them, miles ahead,” Merson told Yahoo Sport.

“It’s the north London derby later this month and honestly, Arsenal have got no chance. Tottenham will beat them easy if Arsenal play like they have done in the last few weeks

“It says it all to me that Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player who would get into the current Tottenham team.”

The Gunners are currently struggling to make it into the top four while Spurs are fighting for the Premier League title.

Pochettino’s side are 14 points ahead of their rivals and could extend that lead when the duo meet at White Hart Lane at the end of the month – Merson believes Arsenal have no chance of winning.

It will be the final game played at Spurs’ old home and Arsenal will want to spoil their rivals party by claiming maximum points.

During the reverse fixture in November, Harry Kane’s second-half penalty cancelled out Kevin Wimmer’s own goal as the duo shared the spoils.

Both sets of fans will be now hoping to end the season with the bragging rights as the Premier League campaign enters its final few months.
