Paul Merson makes huge claim about Everton rookie

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Everton youngster Tom Davies should be in the England squad next month.
Midfielder Davies, 18, has burst onto the scene with the Everton first-team this season and has drawn plaudits for his sudden rise.
Merson has gone a step further by claiming the Goodison Park rookie should be fast-tracked by the national team.
In his column for the Daily Star, Merson revealed his admiration for the 18-year-old’s talents, and backed him to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad later this month.
England are set to face 2014 World Champions Germany in a friendly in Berlin on March 22, before a World Cup qualifier against European minnows Lithuania four days’ later.

Merson said: “I’ve watched him for a while and think he looks a really good player. He came on in one game last season and I thought, ‘Cor, he can play. He looks decent.’ He just needed a run of games.
“As long as he keeps his feet on the ground, he’s got every chance of playing for England many, many times, and I would put him in now.
“He’s only 18 but if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. He’s already trained with England and he’s been playing so well he deserves his chance.”
Davies has featured for the international side at youth level, making appearances for the England U16 side through to the U19’s, where he is currently captain.
An Everton academy graduate, he was handed his first-team debut by then-manager Roberto Martinez in April 2016, coming on as a late substitute in the 1-1 draw with Southampton in the Premier League.
He was then granted his first start for the club on the final day of the 2015-16 season, where he put in a man of the match performance in the win over Norwich.
Ronald Koeman has also taken a liking to Davies since arriving at Goodison Park in the summer, tying the highly-rated youngster down to a new five-year deal.
He has since made 13 appearances in all competitions for the first-team this season, scoring one goal and contributing two assists.
Davies has featured in each of Everton’s last nine Premier League matches, winning six and drawing three. He is expected to feature against Tottenham on Sunday.
In other Everton news, better than Dele Alli, this 23-year-old will cause havoc against Tottenham.
