Paul Robinson has heaped praise on West Brom manager Sam Allardyce for ‘unearthing a gem’ in Okay Yokuslu.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper said the Baggies will “100 per cent” sign the 27-year-old midfielder if they beat the drop this season.

Yokuslu has massively impressed in his eight Premier League appearances since arriving on loan from Celta de Vigo in January.

As quoted by Birmingham Live, Allardyce revealed that signing the Turkey international permanently would be the ‘first thing on the agenda’ if Albion avoid relegation.

West Brom are currently 19th and nine points from safety, with eight games remaining.

Robinson hailed Yokuslu as one of the best signings of the 2020-21 Premier League season.

“Yokuslu has been one of the best January signings,” he told Football Insider.

“I do not know how Sam does it, but he always seems to unearth quality players who not too many people know about.

“He has got a great scouting network and he knows the world of football inside out.

“In Yokuslu he has unearthed a real gem and if they somehow stay up they will sign him, 100 per cent, they have to. If they do not, another club will, of that I am sure.”

Speaking after Saturday’s shock 5-2 win at Chelsea, Allardyce said: “Let’s talk about Okay playing for West Brom in the Premier League.

“The first thing we’ll do if we stay up is sign him up, absolutely. It’ll be the first thing on the agenda – get him signed!”
