Pedro Neto responds emotionally to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as Chelsea exit looms

Pedro Neto has sent an emotional message to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall amid speculation that the midfielder could leave Chelsea this summer.

Dewsbury-Hall made the move to Chelsea from his boyhood club Leicester City last summer, as he followed Enzo Maresca from the East Midlands to West London.

He was a standout as the Foxes cruised to the Championship title in 2023/24, but then struggled to nail down a consistent starting berth in his debut Chelsea season and was handed just 13 league appearances all term.

Football Insider revealed prior to the recent January window that West Ham were looking into a loan move with an option to buy for Dewsbury-Hall, but that did not materialise and he did impress throughout Chelsea’s triumphant Conference League campaign.

Maresca’s strength in depth in midfield could now see him depart the club after just one year though, as Fulham were recently revealed to be interested in Dewsbury-Hall, and they have now made a formal approach to sign him [Ben Jacobs] with an exit likely if they offer more than the £30million [BBC] that Chelsea paid to Leicester to sign him last summer.

Dewsbury-Hall shares update away from Chelsea

Chelsea’s first-team squad has been given an extended break after their triumphant Club World Cup campaign, and Dewsbury-Hall has been pictured enjoying his time off ahead of a potential transfer in the next few weeks.

The 26-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday (27 July) to share a number of photos of him away on holiday and with family and friends, to which Blues teammate Pedro Neto replied saying: “What a guy” with blue heart and star emojis.

Joao Pedro added: “quality” with a pinched fingers emoji, while Liam Delap also left a heart eyes emoji in the replies.

Dewsbury-Hall should leave Chelsea to play regularly

Football Insider verdict

You could certainly not have begrudged Dewsbury-Hall’s move to Stamford Bridge last summer, despite him likely knowing he would be a back-up to the likes of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, as he has now got two major trophies to show for his maiden season at the club.

15 of his 36 appearances all campaign came in the Conference League, however, and now that the Blues are back in the Champions League, his game-time is surely set to reduce significantly under Maresca.

The Italian boss has a wealth of midfield options at his disposal alongside Caicedo and Fernandez, with Dario Essugo recently signed from Sporting CP and Andrey Santos vying to return to the fold after a successful loan spell at Strasbourg.

At 26-years-old, Dewsbury-Hall needs to play regular football at an established Premier League side, and so a move to Fulham seems absolutely ideal, as he would not have to uproot to another part of the country and would surely be seen as a key player in Silva’s side.

Former scout Mick Brown also told Football Insider during the last January window that Everton were sizing up a loan move for Dewsbury-Hall, so with West Ham’s previous links and the Cottagers’ new interest, he is clearly not set to be short of suitors this summer if the Blues are happy to let him leave.
