Pedro Porro’s pass map and dazzling stats will win back Tottenham fans who savaged him

Pedro Porro was one of the standout performers for Tottenham in their 4-0 victory over Copenhagen on 4 November.

Following the apparent dressing room mutiny between Thomas Frank, Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence after the Chelsea defeat on 1 November, Spurs bounced back in tremendous style.

The Dane would have been delighted by his side’s win with Xavi Simons having his best game for Tottenham against Copenhagen.

However, the match wasn’t without controversy after Brennan Johnson frustrated Tottenham fans with a red card in the second half.

Ultimately, the dismissal only improved the Lilywhites’ performance as they notched two goals after the pivotal moment in the tie, sealing the three points.

Porro redeemed himself against Copenhagen after Monaco debacle

In the previous Champions League clash, Tottenham fans tore into Porro after a horrific performance against Monaco.

The Spaniard was careless with his passing, frequently overhitting his long balls and failing to retain possession.

The former Sporting CP man redeemed himself against Copenhagen however, with a spell-binding display.

The number 23’s pass map, as demonstrated by Football Insider’s data partnership with Opta, reflected his precision as he completed 60 of his 66 passes with a passing accuracy rate of 91 per cent.

On top of this, the Spain international racked up two key passes, including one big chance created as his incredible passing distribution was on show for the Spurs faithful.

Conversely, defensively, the 26-year-old won six of his seven ground duels as he looked to quickly turn over the ball and send Tottenham on the attack.

Djed Spence should take notice of his teammate’s excellence

Prior to the Champions League tie, Football Insider tipped Spence to be dropped by Frank after their disagreement post-defeat to Chelsea.

This prediction came true as the Englishman only played 17 minutes off the bench with Destiny Udogie starting ahead of him against the Danish outfit.

The 25-year-old has come under fire for his poor attitude and carelessness on the ball which has frustrated Spurs fans.

Lacking the professionalism and maturity that will take him to the next level in his career, Spence should learn from the composure and application of Porro.

Bouncing back from negative feedback from supporters is never straightforward, yet the Spaniard’s performance in Europe depicted the precise manner players should respond to the fans when things are going against them.

It remains to be seen whether the England international will be restored to face Man United on 8 November, but his attitude has to change sooner rather than later in order to restore faith amongst the Lilywhites crowd.
