Pena can rule at Rangers and other things learned from win v Aberdeen
Pena can be an SPL sensation
The re-introduction of the Mexican after more than a month on the sidelines was a gamble that paid off handsomely. Not only did Pena score his fifth goal in just 10 matches for the club, he actually contributed to the overall attack outside of the penalty area in a strong first half showing. The new system played to his strengths. It relied on him to do very little other than float in the hole, take a touch, find a team-mate with a pass and get into the penalty box. However, there’s no doubting he did it well, and almost notched an assist to go with his goal after sliding James Tavernier through. However, after the break Pena reverted to frustrating type. He was caught in possession, loose with his passing, and eventually Murty had enough, hooking him for Daniel Candeias. Did Pena run out of steam? Is he still acclimatising? Is this just the way he’ll always be? Maybe yes to all three, but the enigma has the potential to be an SPL sensation.
