Pep Guardiola allowed to stay at Man City for ‘as long as he wants’ – Ex-Etihad adviser
Pep Guardiola will be allowed to stay at Manchester City for “as long as he wants” following his success at the Etihad Stadium.
That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider he doesn’t believe the club would ever fire the Catalan boss, whose contract expires in June 2027.
There has been plenty of speculation around Guardiola’s future in recent months following the Manchester giants’ inconsistent form.
It has been suggested the 55-year-old could leave the Etihad at the end of this season, which is his 10th in charge of the club.
There has been some debate around Man City’s next manager, but it remains unclear how Guardiola feels about bringing his decade-long reign to an end.

Man City had faced a tough couple of weeks after being knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid and losing ground on Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
However, Guardiola’s side secured a 2-0 victory over the Gunners in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday (22 March), claiming his 19th trophy since taking over at the Etihad.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider before the Wembley success, Borson discussed whether Man City could decide it’s time to move on from Guardiola following their patchy form.
“I don’t think so, to be honest,” said Borson.
“I think the Pep situation is he’ll go for as long as he wants to go, and then he’ll leave when he doesn’t want to be there anymore, whether that’s this summer or next summer.
“I think it certainly looks very unlikely that he renews after this one, but I don’t think City would ever fire him, to be honest with you.”
Who is favourite to be next Man City manager?
Football Insider revealed on 20 March Man City are favouring appointing Vincent Kompany if Guardiola leaves the Etihad this summer.
It is understood the Bayern Munich manager is the hierarchy’s “top choice”, but Enzo Maresca is also a strong contender to land the job.
Kompany previously spent 11 years with the 10-time English champions, where he captained the side under Guardiola.
The Belgian has claimed two trophies since joining Bayern in the summer of 2024, while he is on course to secure more honours in Germany this season.
