Pep Guardiola could resign as Man City manager – top source
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Pep Guardiola could resign as Man City boss if their poor form continues.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the 53-year-old is “unsackable” but could decide to walk away as he is “showing signs of being burnt out”.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (23 December) that Guardiola’s job at Man City is safe despite the champions’ terrible recent form.
The Spaniard has recently admitted he is “not good enough”, with City losing nine of their last 12 games across all competitions.
He only signed a new two-year contract extension in November, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2027.
Guardiola – who is among the bookies’ favourites to lose his job next in the Premier League – has spent more than eight years at City, winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League.
Guardiola ‘unsackable’ at Man City, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “A lot of people have been asking me – and I do believe he is unsackable.
“I think if he were to leave, it would be his choice. He may resign, if it gets to that situation – but we’re not there yet.
“I do think he’s unsackable, but he’s clever enough to know when it’s time to go.
“Even though he signed a contract extension, he may decide that he needs a rest. He’s showing signs of being burnt out – to a degree.

“He’s given City so much success and so many seasons they would have never expected.
“From the club’s point of view, he will be unsackable.”
