Pep Guardiola is going to ‘quit Man City’ over 115 charges case

Pep Guardiola could leave Manchester City if the club are found guilty of breaching financial fair play rules.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid it being over three years since Man City were dealt the charges.

Guardiola’s future at Man City is uncertain, with suggestions that the 55-year-old could step down at the end of the season with one year left remaining on his contract.

It remains unclear when a verdict over Man City’s 115-charges case will be reached, or when it will be made public.

‘Nobody knows the truth’ on Man City’s 115 charges case

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – says the case is “dragging on.”

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes it is the “biggest issue” that the Premier League has ever faced.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “You know, this is now in the realms of all sorts of conspiracy theories and people are reading into this in so many different ways.

“People are thinking Pep Guardiola is going to leave because of it, all sorts of things going on, but nobody really knows the truth as to what’s happening.

“I’m hoping that this is still the case that is dragging on because they’re trying to find some elegant solution behind the scenes to try and solve what is a pretty big issue and probably the biggest issue the Premier League’s faced since its inception.”

Shock name emerges to replace Pep Guardiola

With Guardiola potentially leaving the Etihad at the end of the season, there are multiple contenders that could take over from the Spaniard.

Former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has had his odds of becoming the next Man City manager slashed since he left French club Marseille.

However, the likes of Luis Enrique and Enzo Maresca remain favourites for the job, with the latter having worked under Guardiola at the club previously.
