‘Pep Guardiola makes big confession as Man City confirm triple exit’
Man City have made big changes after a dismal 2024-25 campaign – which saw them miss out on a major trophy for the first time in eight years.
City’s coaching clear-out has seen Juanma Lillo and Inigo Dominguez leave the club, while Carlos Vicens has taken over as head coach at Portuguese club Braga.
Ex-Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders has now joined Pep Guardiola’s new-look coaching set-up along with James French – the Reds‘ long-serving analyst of 13 years.
City have also been active early in the transfer window, completing deals for Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has claimed this period shows Guardiola is “admitting mistakes” from the 2024-25 campaign, and insisted the Catalan boss is kicking off another “big shift” at the club.

‘Man City will be strong next season’ after key changes, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he expects City “to be strong” next season as “a lot of new people are in place with a lot to prove”.
The Manchester giants finished third in the Premier League and were eliminated in the knockout playoff round of the Champions League.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “This is indicative of a big shift at Man City.
“Pep is admitting some mistakes, I think it’s very good. He’s telling City to go again, to go with a new approach.
“Full credit to him for accepting that.
“A lot of people would probably persevere with the same thing he was doing before, with the same people.
“But he’s completely refreshed everything. I think it will be good for Man City and I expect them to be strong.
“There are a lot of new people in place with a lot to prove.”

Everton set sights on Man City veteran
Meanwhile, Everton are among the Premier League clubs reportedly considering a move to sign Man City star Kyle Walker.
That is according to former Man United and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game.
Brown exclusively told Football Insider that David Moyes values the 35-year-old’s experience as a key asset.
