Pep Guardiola sack latest: O’Rourke shares update from Man City
Pep Guardiola will not be sacked by Man City despite the champions’ terrible recent form, sources have told Football Insider.
City have plunged to seventh in the Premier League table after losing away at Aston Villa on Saturday (21 December).
Guardiola’s side have now lost nine of their last 12 games across all competitions but sources say Etihad Stadium chiefs will not consider parting with the Spanish boss.
The 53-year-old only signed a new two-year contract extension in November, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2027.
It is believed a final decision on any manager change will be left to Guardiola, but club chiefs are keen for him to remain in the post.
They feel the legendary manager is the right man to turn things around and are fully behind him – despite him bizarrely admitting he is “not good enough” to halt the slide.
Guardiola under no sack pressure at Man City
Guardiola is under no internal pressure at the Etihad Stadium and he will be backed in the coming transfer windows.
City are already 12 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand on the reigning champions.

The Citizens are also struggling in the Champions League and sit 22nd in the league phase table after winning just two of their six fixtures.
Guardiola’s side face Everton and Leicester City before the transfer window opens on 1 January.
