Pep Guardiola shares clear stance on Daniel Farke as Leeds sack plan revealed

Daniel Farke is set to lead Leeds United into another crucial clash against Manchester City this weekend.

The Whites slipped into the Premier League relegation zone after their 2-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa last weekend, and that has piled the pressure on their manager ahead of their upcoming clash.

Carlos Corberan is the favourite to take over at Leeds in the event that Farke loses his job, with the German’s position coming under increasing levels of scrutiny with every passing game.

Sources have told Football Insider that Farke is facing the sack if United do not secure points in their next two games against Manchester City and Chelsea.

The newly-promoted outfit begin with Saturday’s daunting trip to Etihad Stadium in their latest assignment, and Pep Guardiola is clear on where he stands regarding the Leeds boss.

Pep Guardiola on ‘incredible’ Daniel Farke

Guardiola was left frustrated with Manchester City’s defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in midweek, as he saw his team’s seven-match unbeaten home run grind to a halt in abrupt fashion.

Goals from Alejandro Grimaldo and Patrik Schick condemned the hosts to a frustrating 2-0 reverse in the Champions League, and they will be gunning to put that right this weekend.

Leeds are the visitors to the Etihad Stadium for the Saturday afternoon kick-off, with Guardiola’s men aiming to pile yet more misery on the West Yorkshire outfit.

However, Guardiola was actually quick to share his admiration for his opposite number this weekend, as he branded Farke as “incredible” during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“I have an incredible opinion of Daniel (Farke),” the Spanish chief said, according to journalist James Marshment via his X account.

“I have a good relationship with him. I know the Premier League is always like that, you can make a good run of results, but you can make bad results continue because opponents are tough. It’s demanding. You have to be ready.”

Daniel Farke has two games to save his job at Leeds United

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Friday that Farke has two games to save his job at Leeds, and that starts with their trip to Manchester this weekend.

The board at Elland Road have decided that the boss must claim points from this weekend’s game and the midweek clash with Chelsea, or his position will be untenable.

As a result, he clash at the Etihad has gained even more importance, as it could be pivotal in LS11 for both this season and beyond.

The speculation surrounding Farke’s position will surely only subside if the team can pull away from the relegation zone, but that is undoubtedly a big ask given how their fixture list looks in the coming weeks.
