Pep Guardiola ‘will not manage a League Two club’ as Man City ‘expulsion’ feared – ex-CEO
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has insisted Pep Guardiola would not stay at Man City if they are demoted to League Two.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed a negative decision for City in their Financial Fair Play case would “have a lot of ramifications”.
The Premier League charged Man City with 115 financial breaches last year, with the alleged offences spanning nine seasons.
City are yet to face an independent commission with the hearing scheduled to get underway in 2025.
Wyness has already told Football Insider (22 March) that “expulsion has to be an option” for the treble-winners if they are found guilty of the breaches.
Pep Guardiola will quit if Man City are expelled from Premier League, says Wyness
Guardiola has already said he will “absolutely not” consider quitting – even if the club are relegated to League One.
However, Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think he’s already been given assurances that there was no wrongdoing, and if that turned out not to be the case – he would go.
“A negative decision for Man City would have a lot of ramifications.

“I’m sure Pep Guardiola would not want to manage a club in League Two, so I think he probably would go.
“It wouldn’t work out very well for him to stay, would it?”
