Pepe Reina delivers his verdict on under-fire Liverpool ace
By Dominic Toner
Pepe Reina believes that Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is doing well at Anfield despite some criticism for his performances.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a mixed start to his Liverpool career and has been criticised on several occasions for costly errors.
Karius failed to hold on to a shot against Bournemouth in stoppage time on Sunday and Nathan Ake pounced to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory.
The Reds supporters have also been uncertain with his handling and some of them have been calling for Simon Mignolet to be reinstated as the number one option.
Ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Reina disagrees and claims that Karius has made a good start since he joined the Merseyside club.

“I think he (Karius) doesn’t need any encouragement. I think he’s a brilliant goalkeeper who is doing really well,” Reina told ITV Sport.
Liverpool completed the signing of Karius in the summer transfer window from Mainz and he is believed to be the long-term option for the club.
The German emerged as a top young goalkeeper following his displays with Mainz, where he kept 32 clean sheets in 96 games for the Bundesliga club.
He managed to gain a move to England in the summer and Jurgen Klopp has shown faith in him by making him his number one.
Karius has made 10 appearances this campaign for the Reds and kept clean sheets against Manchester United, Southampton and Sunderland.
Liverpool are regarded as serious title contenders for the Premier League this season, but do look vulnerable in defence.
Karius has shown glimpses of his qualities with shot stopping and also looks comfortable in possession, something which has certainly helped Klopp’s side.
