'Perfect' - Exclusive: Danny Mills dazzled as extraordinary Newcastle plan revealed by Sky
Danny Mills has claimed Mauricio Pochettino is the “perfect candidate” to replace Steve Bruce at Newcastle United if the Saudi-backed takeover is completed.
The former England international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, tipped the Argentine to be “superb” at St James’ Park as fans eagerly await an official announcement on the prospective takeover of the PCP Partners.
Sky Sports revealed the former Tottenham manager is the incoming owners’ preferred choice to take the reigns on Tyneside.
The prospective new owners are reportedly willing to offer the former Spurs manager £19million a year to replace Steve Bruce.
It would make Pochettino the second-highest-paid manager in the Premier League with only Pep Guardiola ahead of him.
When asked by Football Insider if the 48-year-old is the right man to take the club forward under new ownership, Mills said: “Pochettino knows the Premier League and we have seen what he has done developing players over five years at Spurs and also what he did at Southampton.

“If you give him money, big club, perfect candidate. I think he would be superb and it would not surprise you because Newcastle are a big club.
“It would not surprise me if Newcastle go all out to get him in as their man.
“Recruitment will be key but Pochettino and his guys have been quite good at that. Poch would be a very good addition if that is the route they want to go down.”
Despite reaching last season’s Champions League final, Pochettino was sacked by Spurs in November.
This week, in an interview with BT Sport, the Argentine revealed he wants to one day return to the club.
In other Newcastle United news, Kevin Phillips has REVEALED the two reasons Poch will find it hard to turn down the offer of becoming Magpies manager.
