'Perfect player' - Exclusive: Danny Mills wowed by West Ham talent
West Ham forward Michail Antonio is the “perfect player” to have in a squad, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England international lavished praise on the 30-year-old for his admirable work ethic and his goalscoring ability.
Antonio has been a shining light for the Hammers since the Premier League restarted, scoring seven goals in seven matches, including four strikes against Norwich City last week.
And Mills has been suitably dazzled by the hitman’s rich vein of form.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I said all along that West Ham, in their manager and in their coaching staff, have experience – they have fight, they have determination, they have knowhow, they have desire.
“Michail Antonio epitomises all of that. He’s also got a lot of quality as well. When you look at what he does and how he’s had to play up front on his own at times, the sheer work rate that he gets through – putting people under pressure, tirelessly, unselfishly putting in the hard yards.

“And then when you flip that round and West Ham do have the ball, he’s got out-and-out quality.
“He’s the perfect player that you want in your squad because he works his socks off, he’s got ability, and he can score goals. That’s exactly the sort of player that David Moyes will want to keep hold of.”
Antonio’s total goal tally for the season stands at nine strikes, and he has also registered three assists.
Irons manager David Moyes recently confirmed that the club have an option to extend the forward’s current contract for an extra year, meaning that he could stay at the London Stadium until at least 2022.
