Phil Foden and James Maddison react to Ben Chilwell’s update as Chelsea exit beckons

Ben Chilwell shared an update with fans as he continues to stay active during the off-season, attracting plenty of attention from Premier League stars.

The Chelsea defender spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace, where he enjoyed success by lifting the FA Cup during his short stint in South London.

Crystal Palace have been in talks to make Chilwell’s move permanent, but negotiations have stalled for now, with Tyrick Mitchell still considered the club’s first-choice left-back moving forward.

Despite that, former financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Chilwell is one of three players Chelsea are actively looking to offload this summer as they look to reshape the squad under Enzo Maresca.

Amid the speculation, the England international posted a holiday update on social media, showing he is still working hard to stay in shape before the new season begins.

Ben Chilwell continues training amid Chelsea exit speculation

Chilwell shared several photos on Instagram showing himself back on the pitch and keeping fit, despite being excluded from Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad.

The left-back kept the caption simple, writing: “Summer” as he enjoys some time off during the off-season.

His post drew plenty of attention from Premier League stars, with Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Tottenham’s James Maddison and Declan Rice among those liking the update.

Former teammates also showed their support, with Marc Guehi commenting “Chilly” and Adam Wharton liking the post.

His future remains uncertain, with a permanent return to South London yet to materialise despite Crystal Palace fans calling for Chilwell to be signed permanently following his successful loan spell.

The defender made 11 appearances for Palace, scoring once, and struggled for game time under Maresca prior to his loan, featuring just once for Chelsea during the first half of the season. With the club eager to trim their squad, it comes as no surprise that an exit is on the cards.

Chelsea set to make Noni Madueke decision as transfer interest builds

While Chelsea have been active in strengthening the squad this summer, the club’s focus may now turn to departures.

Alongside Chilwell, winger Noni Madueke could also be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Maresca has concerns about Madueke’s attitude and whether the 23-year-old fits into his long-term plans.

The former PSV man has attracted interest from several Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa, and Chelsea are expected to consider offers if they meet the club’s valuation.
