Phil Foden and Tijjani Reijnders react sharply to Erling Haaland’s Man City message
Erling Haaland sent a training ground update to the Man City supporters as they prepare for their first tie in the Club World Cup.
Man City are gearing up for their opening fixture of the summer tournament against Moroccan side Wydad AC on Wednesday, 18 June.
The 2024/25 campaign was one to forget for Pep Guardiola, with City falling well short in the title race and ending the season without a single trophy for the first time in eight years.
Now, however, the Club World Cup presents a fresh opportunity for silverware and Haaland will be aiming to build on the 31 goals he scored last term.
Before the squad departed for the United States, Haaland also shared a heartfelt message with teammate Jack Grealish, who has not travelled with the team. The Norwegian made it clear just how much he’ll miss the winger during the trip as he was left out by Guardiola.
But the mood has since shifted, with full focus now on training as City prepare for their return to competitive action.

The striker gave fans a glimpse into pre-season preparations, captioning his Instagram post: “First days in the [US].”
He received a wave of responses from teammates, including Nathan Ake, Phil Foden and Tijjani Reijnders—who joined Man City ahead of the Club World Cup registration deadline.
Haaland was in excellent form for Norway before rejoining his club teammates, having scored in both of his international appearances.

Man City set to offload Kyle Walker amid Everton interest

While Haaland remains central to Guardiola’s plans, the squad will be without one of its most experienced figures, Kyle Walker.
Football Insider revealed Everton are exploring a move for Walker, who is expected to leave the Etihad this summer.
This comes after Football Insider reported that that Walker has “no way back” at Man City following a reported falling out with Guardiola during the January transfer window, which led to a temporary loan exit.
Now back at the club, interest in the England international remains strong, and a Premier League stay could still be on the cards.
