Phil Foden bids farewell after confirmed Man City transfer news

Man City ace Phil Foden took to social media to say his goodbyes to former teammate Kyle Walker after he left the club to join AC Milan.

Walker, 34, joined the Italian giants on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy for £4.2million after asking to leave the current Premier League champions in early January.

The veteran defender had been left out of Man City’s last four squads entirely, with his last appearance coming in their 4-1 Premier League win over West Ham.

The England international left City having made 319 appearances for the club over a seven-and-half-season period captaining the side for last season’s historic fourth consecutive Premier League title last season.

Pep Guardiola had seemingly lost faith in Walker before his departure, with the right-back starting 11 of his 18 games across all competitions, and failing to provide a goal contribution in his 1159 minutes of action.

Man City ace Phil Foden wishes Kyle Walker “good luck” after his January departure

Foden, 24, has managed to re-find some form after a dismal first half of the season, scoring 10 goals including the match clincher in Saturday evening’s 3-1 win over Chelsea, and providing four assists in his 1941 minutes of action spread across 21 starts in 27 matches in all competitions.

The winger took to Instagram to send a message to his former teammate following his move to Italy, saying: “Good luck Kyle Walker. Will miss you mate.”

Foden and Walker enjoyed a remarkably successful time at City together, winning six Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and a Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s side don’t have much time to commemorate Walker as they host Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea on Saturday (January 25).
