Phil Foden could quit Man City for Euro giants amid talks update – pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed that Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only teams Phil Foden who could possibly prise Phil Foden away from Man City.
But speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted that Pep Guardiola will be desperate to keep the 22-year-old at the club.
According to The Daily Star last Saturday (9 July), the 22-year-old is in talks to sign a new long-term contract at the Etihad.
The England international is said to have delayed putting pen to paper in January, opting to wait until the end of the season to decide his long-term future with the Light Blues.
The mooted six-year deal is said to be worth £200,000 per week.
The forward’s current contract runs until 2024.
McAvennie has suggested that only Barcelona or Real Madrid could tempt the youngster.
“I don’t know where else he would go, it would need to be Barcelona or Real Madrid,” he told Football Insider.
“That’s the only two teams that would be suitable for someone with as much talent as him to go to. I don’t think Pep’s thinking about selling Foden I don’t think that deal will be done.
“They’re not going to let Foden go, there’s not a chance on earth.“

Foden made 45 appearances across all competitions for the league winners last season.
He scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists during that time.
