Phil Foden crisis: O’Rourke shares inside Man City reveal

Man City will not be overly concerned about Phil Foden despite his poor start this season.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that it is viewed within the club that the England star’s “class is permanent” and he can overcome a tricky few month.

The 24-year-old is still regarded as a young player who will have occasional lapses in form and consistency.

There is confidence at City that he will soon regain his form with the internal view that an on-song Foden is one of the best players in the world.

Foden has failed to score in the Premier League this season after eight appearances, but he has found the back of the net on three occasions in the Champions League.

The England international is a long way from the form he provided last season where he scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions.

Phil Foden will look to step up his performances

Those within City are currently not concerned about Foden, but Football Insider did reveal that Pep Guardiola has been disappointed with the levels shown by a number of players in this difficult period.

City lost four games in a row prior to the current international break with the defending Premier League champions struggling to find the form that people expect from them.

Foden is still an integral part of the football club, and Football Insider revealed that the club were preparing a “bumper new contract” for him in the summer.
